Welcome to "Dear World, I can do this." The musings of a housewife, student wife, Latter-day Saint, and individual (*GASP!* we can have an identity after marriage and motherhood?!!) . A place where we can talk about those things we always want to share with the world - A place to discuss great eats, share stories and other great tips, and enjoy successes. This is all about giving myself, and others, a VOICE.

He's on MY team!

My aunt and her friend used to have this ongoing "team selection" of people they liked.

When they'd see somebody they liked, whoever said "she's on MY team" first, got them on their team. Sometimes it was a mad race to get the most people on their imaginary teams, but mostly to get the BEST people on their teams.

It eventually just turned into a term of endearment between the two of them regarding others. "He's on my team!" "Really?! DANG! But I wanted him on MY team!" etc.

Well, today I sure am glad to have The Hubs on my team. He has been SOOO supportive with this fight to prove it to myself that "I can do this!" with all my goals.

Last night he sent me to the temple with a dear friend. It was a little of an adventure, but I appreciated the recharge and the quiet. Especially since I hadn't been in such a long time! I won't tell you how long, it's a bit embarrassing! Between having babies, nursing, moving, etc. it just hasn't happened- Anyways, it seems like there was EVERYTHING fighting against me going, but The Hubs told me just before leaving that it would be so easy to flake out and not go because he has a whole lot of studying to do, and it's impossible to do that while watching the kids, but he refused to flake. He knew I needed to go, and wasn't going to let anything stop me.

Then I hopped in the van to go, turned the key, and nothing. All out'ta 'juice'-

"Awesome."

So I got into The Hubs' car and took it. When we got out of the car, it hit me. My temple recommend was in the van! Which was at home. 25 minutes away. By the time I would have went back to get it and came back the temple would have been closed.

Super duper "awesome."

It would have been super easy at this point to just be like, "D'oh! I don't have my recommend, guess I can't go. Dang." And just wait quietly in the lobby for my friend to do some temple work and then go home. But I refused. I WAS going to go! So I told the men at the front desk I had forgotten it, and they got things ironed out, made a few calls, and I was still able to attend THE last session of the day.

Then while in the session, I kept having those thoughts about WHY I hadn't been in so long, and guilting myself about all the lame excuses I had. I almost felt as though my soul was BURNING or something! I seriously felt like I was going to pass out or something from this intense internal turmoil! Then my sweet Hubby reminded me that the Lord doesn't put those kinds of feelings into our hearts. It seems like "Good 'ole Scratch" (Satan) was working SOO hard for me not to be there, providing the service I was.

HE's NOT on my team! Boo!

But I'm sure glad these two men are:

  1. Yay! The Savior, Holy Ghost and Heavenly Father are the only ones that can be on everyone's team!! I'm glad he's on yours and mine! Great post.

You forgot to mention how part of that game is to put really bizarre people on other people's teams. That's the fun part! :-) Like, Crazy home-less guy with dreadlocks, carrying his house he built on his bike - HE'S ON YOUR TEAM! See? Isn't that fun?

Ok, maybe not the right spirit for this post . . . maybe some other time!

    Love ya!
